雷龍亭은 南冥先生이 48歲 때부터 12年間學問을 硏究하고 弟子를 養成하던 場所이다. 雷龍亭의 이름은 『莊子』의 ‘淵默而雷聲尸居而龍見’ (깊은 연못처럼 고요하다가 우뢰처럼 소리치고, 시동처럼 가만히 있다가 용처럼 나타난다)에서 따온 말이다.
한편 先生은 이곳에서 당시의 國政을 極烈하게 批判한 乙卯辭職疏(一名丹城疏)를 지어 올리기도 하였다.

NOERYONG-JEONG is the place for studying and teaching Cho Sik′s diciples for 12 years, when he was 48 years old. The name, Noeryong, was mamed affer the book chuangtzu which demonstrate rules of Taoism.
He worte the letter to the King at this place which criticizes governmental affairs and suggests reformation at that time.
